“If I voluntary quit or resign from my job…can I still qualify for unemployment?”
The answer is yes…possibly. You do not necessarily need to be fired to be eligible for unemployment benefits..
There are a series of reasons or issues that can lead you to voluntarily resign or quit your job and still be eligible for unemployment benefits. Your local unemployment office will know best how to advise you. Always file for unemployment benefits after being separated from a job. Let them tell you whether or not you are eligible. If denied, you may need to seek legal advice.
Did you know if you are unable to return to work in your prior occupation, your employer and/or their insurance carrier may be liable to provide you retraining, or assistance in obtaining a new occupation?
