Several CTA personal injury claims related to recent accident

The events and repercussions stemming from the recent CTA blue line crash are just beginning to surface.  The crash left over thirty (30) people injured and resulted in massive delays during the rush hour period.   On Wednesday, October 2, 2013, Ms. Kim Quatch was the first passenger of the recent train crash to file a lawsuit against the CTA.  Ms. Quatch alleges the CTA was careless and negligent in the operation of the trains and is seeking at least $50,000.00 in damages.  Representatives of the CTA have declined to comment on the matter.

While the timing may seem a bit rushed, it is always important to remember the limited window available to Plaintiffs when filing suit against a municipality or its agencies, such as the CTA.  Unlike other personal injury suits, when a prospective plaintiff is suing the CTA or other government entities, the deadline for filing is only one year from the date of injury rather than two.
