Employment Discrimination against woman with oxygen tank

Descrimination agains hotel employee

A charming and rustic inn in Rock River is in the news for all the wrong reasons in the latest headline-grabbing employment discrimination suit.  Ms. Donna Colvin, a 51 year old woman, who worked the overnight shift at the Paddle Wheel Inn was fired after requesting to bring her oxygen tank to work.  Ms. Colvin suffers from serious respiratory illnesses and was instructed by her doctor to bring the oxygen tank to work.  Ms. Colvin notified her manager of her medical situation, but was fired the next day.

Ms. Colvin filed suit on October 3, 2013, alleging violations of the ADA (American with Disabilities Act) by firing her without making any attempt to accommodate her medical needs.  The Inn’s owner claims that Ms. Colvin was fired due to incompetence rather than her need of an oxygen tank.  The case is proceeding in federal court.

Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage protects people from being injured in situations where the other motorist did not have insurance or not enough insurance to cover the medical bills you or your loved ones who were injured in an accident.

Having higher limits on your own uninsured and underinsured motorist policies can be critical to protecting you and your family from uninsured or underinsured drivers.
